Death Of A Drag Queen

Dec 5 - 20 2025 · Echo Theatre

Set in a modest Louisiana apartment-turned-dressing-room, Death of a Drag Queen follows Miss Cram Brulee, a veteran performer in a final glittery showdown with her past. On the morning of her 60th birthday, Cram wakes up naked, hungover, and haunted — by memories, regrets, and maybe some actual ghosts. Part stand-up, part breakdown, part gospel, this one-queen show drags you through beauty, bitterness, and the strange, radiant dignity of hanging on... until it's time to let go. Death of a Drag Queen is a sickeningly glitter-drenched Southern gothic gagging on love, loss, and legend.

We are freaks. We exist in between the worlds and nobody ain’t never gonna love you… so you better be the best at whatever the hell it is you do.” - Miss Cram Brulee

This is the world premiere of Death of a Drag Queen, by award-winning filmmaker Sean Brown. The production opens December 5th and runs through December 20th at The Echo Theater, with an additional run at The Board Room at Triangle Theatre January 22nd - 31st.

"I wanted to write something for the queens who stayed at the party too long, loved too many too much, and then died," says playwright Sean Brown. "This isn't a story of stardom - it's a story of survival. Right up until it isn't."
