A Joyful Trouble - a fundraiser for Misfit Academy

A D&D game, a Shakespeare company, and a nonprofit walk into a strip club…

Portland’s immersive storytellers and alternative arts nonprofit Misfit Academy 501(c)(3) is about to turn 14 and we’re throwing A Joyful Trouble, a very special party with all our favorite people, full of what we’re known for - immersive world building, story based performance, a little bit of Shakespeare, and a healthy dose of sultry!

Celebrate Portland’s only multidisciplinary and site-specific arts nonprofit, home of Speculative Drama, The Night Carnival, and Myrrh Larsen’s Song Sagas with some true “Portland weird” at this cocktail party and casual gala featuring a Dungeons & Dragons actual play game, raffle prizes, silent auction, dancers, cocktails, and more!

For over a decade, Misfit Academy has brought world-class performing arts to unique spaces around Portland, growing from a tiny underground club into a thriving network of artists creating more than six theatre, cabaret, music, and circus productions a year. This November, we’re preparing for our fifteenth season of events with a fundraiser to support our permanent rehearsal and development space in the heart of downtown Portland!

Whether you come to watch as our D&D players navigate the plot of a mystery Shakespeare play, bid on fantastic raffle prizes and silent auction items from some of Portland’s best artists and local businesses, or to mingle and enjoy the artistic atmosphere, “A Joyful Trouble” is just that - a celebration of all things beautiful, brilliant, and a little bit transgressive.
